Detox is the modern word for diet. We live in a society of extremes: all or nothing, extreme restriction or wild abandon. Somehow we love the drama of going on and off diets too, despite how ineffective that is in the long term.
Food allergies, intolerances and sensitivities are so common it's getting impossible to cook a meal for friends without taking a medical history first. Ask anyone and I bet they'll tell you that they react to peanuts, gluten, corn, soy, egg, yeast, shellfish or strawberries.
Let's face it, perms and the Food Pyramid were fails. The presumed concept behind the Food pyramid was good: eat a variety of foods in the right proportions. Too bad it was funded by industry and the proportions were off: too much grain and sugar and not enough nourishing fats.
